Statement regarding Albert Solomon

James Ross, 10/20/07

I endorsed Albert Solomon in my candidate statement. This endorsement was based largely on my respect for Albert's volunteer videotaping of the LSB meetings ( see pacvid1.com). In the absence of official minutes (yet another failing of the current LSB), Albert's videos are the only record we have of what the LSB is doing. He's provided a valuable service.

But - based on reading Albert's candidate statement, now posted on the web - I have to withdraw my endorsement of him. His statement's reliance on racist rhetoric makes him unsuited to be a WBAI board member. I understand he was trying, in an ironic manner, to highlight the racial name-calling that goes on. However, what he wrote was terrible.

The first time I saw Albert's statement was around 10/18, when it was first posted on the web, and well after I sent in my own statement. It can be found with the other candidates' statements at www.pacificafoundation.org/elections/wbai-listener-candidates/

Partly this is my mistake. I should have read the other candidates' statements before offering endorsements.
